December 2016 – Report from the Girls’ Orphanage!

This month the following activities have been conducted:

Dec 1st. Thursday. Fairytale therapy with elements of speech development. (tales listing)

Dec 2nd. Friday. Finger gymnastics – kneading and stroking of fingers and hands.

Dec 3rd. Saturday. Play therapy – game “Identify by hearing”. Goal: develop auditory attention. Materials: various toys, items that can produce particular sounds (book, paper, spoon, drum, bell, fife). Physical exercises: exercise “Skier”. Child is in wheelchair doing arm movements like a skier who has ski poles in his arms. Breathe evenly. Durations: 10 sec. Walk was held in the morning, durations – 20 min.

Dec 4th. Sunday. Walking outside, breathing fresh air, talking about winter. Fairytale therapy: reading aloud the fairytale “A Bear and a Spider”.

Dec 5th. Monday. Musical therapy. Listening to the songs (songs listing)

Dec 6th. Tuesday. Fairytale therapy with elements of speech development. (tales listing). Thematic physical exercises. (exercise listing).

Dec 7th. Wednesday. Game “From the simple to the complex”. First, look at two pictures, name what’s in there, turn the pictures over, ask a child “Where’s a dog?” or “Where’s a cat?” etc. Physical exercises – exercise “In a boat”. Gymnastic stick is in the hands, lying on the lap. The child turns to the left and to the right, simulating the motion of the paddles. 20 minutes of walking.

Dec 8th. Thursday. Reading of a fairytale (name of the fairytale). Bath and hygiene day.

Dec 9th. Friday. Finger gymnastics. Walking.

Dec 10th. Saturday. Walking. Play therapy (games listing).

Dec 11th. Sunday. Game “Peekaboo” which is not only entertaining, but also mind developing game. It can be played with hands covering the eyes, or even towel covering the eyes. Each game contributes to emergence of new associations or consolidation of already formed ones. Musical therapy – listening to a song (name of song). Walking, talking about weather.

Dec 12th. Monday. Game “Ladushki” – take child’s palm, imitate clapping, saying “Ladushki, ladushki” etc. Physical activities – exercise “A beetle”. Raise hands to the sides, palm forward, and with sound “zzzz” drop them down. Afternoon walk with a conversation “Where’s snow coming from”.

Dec 13th. Tuesday. Fairytale therapy (fairytales listing). Thematic physical exercises. (exercise listing).

Dec 14th. Wednesday. Play therapy (games listing). Thematic physical exercises. (exercise listing). Walking.

Dec 15th. Thursday. Reading of fable “Swan, pike and crawfish”. Bath and hygiene day.

Dec 16th. Friday. Reading of fairytale “A goat and a Sheep”. Physical activities – exercise “Raven flap their wings”. Raise and drop hands with particular sound “Kar”. Morning walk with a conversation about where wind blows.

Dec 22nd. Thursday. Fairytale therapy (fairytales listing). Bath day.

Dec 24th. Saturday. Play therapy – game “Who’s crying”. Physical exercise – “Get rid of mosquitoes”. Afternoon walk with a conversation about the weather.

Dec 26th. Monday. Musical therapy (songs listing).

Dec 27th. Tuesday. Fairytale therapy – reading a tale “Chiken Ryaba”. Physical exercise “Showing heels”. Afternoon walk with a conversation of snowflakes.

Dec 28th. Wednesday. Play therapy – game “Guess who came”. Physical exercise “Wood Chopping”.  Afternoon walk with a conversation of a winter.

Dec 30th. Friday. Finger gymnastics. Walking. Games.

Dec 31st. Saturaday. Play therapy – game “Squeaking”. Physical exercise “Pendulum swings”. Morning walk with a conversation about sun.

This month the following activities have been conducted:

Masha and Mariya played with dolls – they’ve been taught how to dress dolls, comb their hair, and swaddle them. After that Masha keeps the swaddle sheet and folds it. Mariya hugs and kisses her doll.

Arina, Liza and Alina learned to throw a soft ball and pass it to each other, and throw to an adult.

Tanya and Dasha received tactile contact – stroking hands, heads, embraces, elements of finger gymnastics.

Lena and Snezhana received stroking heads and hands, looked at different pictures, heard many sweet words. Lena smiled and tried to reach with her hands. Snezhana responded with “dyk-dyk” and “ah”.
