Hi there! I first started volunteering with Maya’s Hope in November 2014. I found Maya’s Hope through Volunteer Match. I had never heard of her organization before, but was eager to learn more. The first thing that stuck out to me, was the amazing work she had already done for the children in Philippines and Ukraine. I have always enjoyed working with children and supporting organizations that help children. The second thing that stuck out was the glitter cards she sends out. Who doesn’t love glitter! I love doing arts and crafts and being creative, so I was immediately drawn to volunteer at Maya’s Hope. This organization seemed like the perfect fit for me! When I first started volunteering, I helped make/send out glitter cards and did office work on a weekly basis. Now, every week, I write out tax letters. The first big event I worked on, was the Around the World Gala. It turned out to be such a huge success and I was very thankful to be a part of it.
After the gala, I became a Junior Board Member. We have meetings monthly to see what we as a team can do to make Maya’s Hope even bigger than it is now. We try and come up with exciting events for the year to raise money.

The main goal at the end of the day is to try and help these orphaned and special-needs children and I am very grateful to work with such amazing and caring people, who are also passionate about this goal.
