Father and son…

When I started helping kids in the Philippines, I thought it was a one time thing… after I kept sending care packages to orphanages there over the following months, I then decided to visit orphanages in Ukraine… I then realized it was not just orphanages which were neglected, but institutions for children with mental and physical handicaps in the former Soviet republic… These kids who I meet are the heroes whose stories the world doesn’t know about … and I will do my best to find them and report it like front page stories of the New York Times…

I am so happy to announce that superstar Lyosha, the acrobatic kid with no limbs from Kalinovka Orphanage, is now adopted and in the states… I can’t say how frickin happy this makes me… that a child can be found in an orphanage in a tiny village in Ukraine and find a family in Ohio…

We are so happy to welcome Logan to the good ol USA… Welcome home kiddo! Welcome home!!!!!!!! Thank you Julie Vilardo and the entire Vilardo family for sharing your story…. as I hope it inspires others to value the children who are forgotten by society… They aren’t forgotten… they are just waiting to be found. via Maya’s Hope – on Facebook
